Barney Floyd has been a professional musician since 1981, and his credits include over twelve years of touring with such companies as circus shows (Clyde Beatty, Cole Bros., Ringing Bros., et al), Broadway theater groups (42nd Street, Dreamgirls, Chorus Line, Man of La Mancha), and traveling bands of the caliber of Buddy Childers (former legendary Kenton lead player), Tex Beneke and the Glen Miller Orchestra, The Dorsey band, and Woody Herman. Since moving to New Orleans in 1990, he has worked with many society bands playing for New Orleans functions while also working with local artists such as Marva Wright, Kermit Ruffins, Vince Vance, Luther Kent, Al Beletto, Wardell Quezergue, Dave Bartholomew, the Louisiana Philharmonic and, for the last four years, Clarence Gatemouth Brown. In 1999 he completed two tours with The Nicholas Payton Big Band, travelling to Brazil and performing in Lincoln Center in New York. His recordings include radio, t.v. and movie spots, and record dates on the three most recent Gatemouth Brown CDís, Ruth Brown, Marcia Ball, Irma Thomas, Tracy Nelson, Wardell Quezergue, Vic Shepard, Neslort, Slow Moses, Al Martino, Bobby Charles, Byan Lee, Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias, Dave Pellicciaro, Luther Kent, Tracy Griffin, and many others. Barney holds a degree in music from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
