After a four-year stint with the U.S. Marine Corps Band, Brent attended the University of New Orleans where he studied with Ellis Marsalis and Ed Peterson. Brent received his B.A. in 1998 and was awarded first prize in the Ernest Swenson Jazz Composition Competion for his composition "Kirotedo". He has toured and recorded with Quintology, Stanton Moore, Chevere', Gatemouth Brown, and many others. Brent is currently working on his master's degree at U.N.O. with an emphasis on writing and arranging.
